SmartWitness AP1 Camera Named CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree
SmartWitness’ new AP1 camera – the first ADAS camera to combine video and telematics data in an affordable, plug-and-play, one-piece unit – has been named a CES 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree for its innovative design and engineering features. All honorees were announced at CES Unveiled New York, a prelude to the January CES 2022 technology event in Las Vegas.
The 2-in-1 AP1 design eliminates the time, expense and space required to purchase, install and maintain separate camera and telematics devices, helping remove barriers to video telematics deployments. This road-facing, 4G LTE camera also uniquely combines a set of driver-friendly safety and convenience features that include:
- Critical ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) functions with audible alerts to drivers in the event of an imminent accident
- Artificial intelligence that dramatically reduces false reports of risky driving behavior, helping avoid driver conflict as well as hours of unnecessary video analysis by fleet managers
- An industry-first mobile app that enables drivers to retrieve accident/incident video to without removing the SD card, providing instant access to HD video evidence that can potentially absolve them of responsibility
With its low cost and 15-minute installation, the new camera is also an ideal solution for fleets of one or two vehicles as well as owner-operators needing an easy means of capturing video documentation to protect themselves in the event of an accident.
All of these features led to the recognition of the SmartWitness AP1 camera as a CES 2022 Innovations Award Honoree, showcasing SmartWitness’ world-class technology and fresh approach to helping commercial fleets increase safety, improve driver retention and lower insurance costs.
